Marijuana activist agrees to prison deal
за шо и почему, спрашивается? А вот:
"It's a pretty severe deal for a non-violent first offender," Mr. Emery acknowledged. "There's been no crime, merely a law that's been broken. In Canada, it might be a $200 fine."
But lawyers have told him that almost no one escapes extradition from Canada to the U.S. on an appropriate warrant, no matter how different drug laws are in the United States.
Непонятными остаются две вещи:
1) "преступление" должно быть совершено на территории usa, чтоб дело шить, а уж тем более экстрадиции требовать. а наш мистер, как следует из статьи, продавал семечки в магазине ванкувера, не покидая оного. это почта виновата, что пропустила :)
2) afaik, по нормам международного права, экстрадиция возможна, если тварищ совершил преступление в другой стране И если это так же нарушает аналогичный закон в стране, де он живет. так как у нас нет такого закона, никакой экстрадиции и быть не должно!

А про канадские законы даже не упомянуто :(
