March 21, 2010:
Samsung plans to release a 3D starter kit, which will include Monsters vs. Aliens and two pair of active shutter 3D glasses (the glasses will only work with Samsung 3D-ready HDTVs).
Fall/Winter 2010:
Disney's first release is scheduled to be A Christmas Carol.
Late 2010/Early 2011:
Of course, the big question is when the 3D version of Avatar will be released. James Cameron has said to look for it in November of 2010, while Fox is currently denying that.
3D-ready HDTVs use active shutter glasses and they will only work with the HDTVs they are intended for. For example, a pair of Samsung 3D glasses will only work with a Samsung 3D-ready HDTV.
The glasses run on batteries and sync up with the HDTV through either an infrared or Bluetooth signal. After a certain number of hours, the glasses for some HDTVs can be recharged through a USB connection, while others will need to have their batteries replaced.
As a 3D movie is playing, one frame on the screen will display content only for your left eye, and alternately one frame will display content only for your right eye. Your brain will then combine these two images into one, forming the depth we associate with 3D. Amazingly, within one second, the screen will produce 120 or 240 alternating frames, depending on the HDTV (60 or 120 for your left eye and 60 or 120 for your right).

ну ты ж понимаешь, что вся 3д-шность современных 120гц телеков заключается в наклейке 3D ;)
они просто показывают что им по hdmi дают, разве что синхронизатор в них встроят, хотя можно и в плейер...
именно поэтому все производители так резко зашевелились - минимум вложения на максимум прибыли ;)

Есть технологии, где несколько LCD-панелей "склеены" блином, и можно с определенных углов смотреть без очков на 3D, но это пока далеко и дорого. Еще хороший вариант был с проекционными телевизорами и обычной поляризацией света (как в кино), но проекционные телевизоры уже умерли как класс.

они еще упоминали, что или ресивер понадобится "3D" или плейер, который сможет одновременно гнать видео hdmi и звук по оптическому выходу - разве сейчас не так?

У Sony есть козырь - обещанная поддержка 3D на всех играх для PS3, что достаточно интересно.
Ещё вариант - делать 3D с помощью проектора(ов) и специального поляризационного экрана (как в кино). Не уверен, правда, насчёт затрат на это.
